Googlezon and Epic 2014/15

Epic 2014

Looking into the future may be very interesting. Recently I became aware of the existence of the video “Epic 2014”. The video shows a very creative theory about the future of Internet and media. Specifically, about Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and the New York Times.

After watching it, these are some of the ideas that came to my mind:

1- Is that the future of Internet and media? The video doesn’t say anything about Yahoo, Ebay, Wal Mart, AOL, Linux, and other organizations that should be present in the scenario. I think that the video could be improved with a higher degree of deepness and development.

2- It seems to me that Googlezon is shown almost as a monopoly. In this sense, another question that appears is…How far will fusions and acquisitions go in the fields of Internet and media? For what I have seen, people don’t like monopolies (Think about Microsoft and Linux for example).

3- “…Googlezon finally checkmates Microsoft?”…Is that so simple?

4- I think that the New York Times wouldn’t be alone in an eventual legal battle against Googlezon. At least other important newspapers and media companies would be in its team.

5- “Epic 2015” has an additional minute of content in the end. Again, it adds an interesting idea but not totally well developed.

I also recommend reading the story about the creation of the video.
