The Power of Corporate Kinetics
In 1998, Michael Fradette and Steve Michaud wrote the book “The Power of Corporate Kinetics”.
In that book, 9 years ago, the authors already talked about the death of predictability, originated in the continuous changes of the environment. They stated that companies must be prepared to react instantaneously to market dynamics, and they gave recommendations to achieve it.
They also mentioned some trends happening in the World.
They referred for example to offshoring, and commented that half of the software code written in the Earth was written in Third World countries, especially in India.
They described the increasing pace of business and product development (for example: “In 1981, 2700 new products hit grocery shelves. By 1996 that number had swelled to nearly 20000” or “3M’s famous little yellow Post-it Notes now come in eighteen colors, twenty-seven sizes, fifty-six standard shapes, and twenty fragrances).”
In summary, an interesting book about how to manage the company in order to face environmental changes.
