Interview About Wireless Technology
In an interview published by The Economist about wireless technology, Kenneth Cukier states that in general it has been very difficult to predict the effect of new technology in our lives.
As an example, Cukier establishes an analogy between wireless technology and the electrical power grid. The journalist indicates that in the beginning electrical energy was focused on a single application: the light bulb, but years later it was applied to multiple devices that could be plugged into it, such as dishwashers or computers. Cukier concludes that the growing wireless infrastructure will have many applications in the future that we don’t even imagine, and it will have consequences in our lives such as privacy concerns.
